If time, budget, and staffing were not an issue, what GEAR UP service would you like to plan and execute?
I would plan a wellness retreat for students and staff. This would include a day full of yoga, stress relief exercises, nutritious meals, and connecting with each other!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
This sounds silly, but to make your bed every morning! That way, no matter what kind of day you have, your bed will be made and ready for you at the end of the day. Since I have started doing this, I have also felt more productive.
What dish are you going to bring to the office potluck?
Ricotta Meatballs! Actually the recipe is from Pinch of Yum, I highly recommend them for an easy weeknight dinner!
What was your first job? Did you like it and what did you learn from it?
My first job was at a golf course working in the cart barn where I would clean carts and golf clubs, set up for tournaments, help customers with their tee times, etc. I loved it! I continued working in the golf business throughout high school and college, and it is where I met my now husband! It taught me so much-interviewing, how important communication is with supervisors, coworkers and customers. It taught me about finances, earning money and how to budget (especially through college). It also taught me that I love working with people!
If we were going to film a movie about Nevada State GEAR UP, who would you cast as Tawnie? Why did you select that person?
Amy Poehler, specifically her role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Rec because I aspire to be like her!

I am a member of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Gold Association). No, I am not a professional golfer, but I am a teaching professional! I coach and teach golf outside of my GEAR UP role.
