‘Tis the season for beautiful memories and extra kindness towards all! This is the time of year when lights and decorations share symbols of peace and season’s greetings. From family traditions to making new memories, the winter holiday season is a festive and joyful time for the community.
Unfortunately, for many, this is also the time of year when the memories of past loved ones can make it challenging to enjoy the happiness. Our hearts and thoughts are with those who may be struggling this holiday season, especially those dealing with tragedies in their lives, like our UNLV community. Whether recent or consistent, we understand that it doesn’t get easier, just more manageable over time. It is important to take care of ourselves and check on those around us, especially our strong friends. If you need it now or later, just know that we are here to support you, and that you are not alone.
As we reminisce on 2023, let us remember some of our favorite moments. The Nevada GEAR UP family had so many amazing experiences throughout this year! From fun family nights to unique student field trips to engaging staff conferences, we had a busy and impactful 12 months! Here are just a few of my favorite activities:

- Presenting at the NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference
- Spending time with the Nevada GEAR UP team ❤ #alwaystraveling #iykyk
And it wasn’t just the scheduled activities that made this year memorable. From unplanned long conversations to impromptu memory-making-moments, it’s easy for me to remember times in 2023 that make me smile, laugh, and look forward to another year. So whether you need to take some time alone, or to spend extra time with loved ones, do whatever you need to have a successful holiday season and start your new year off in the best way for you!
