Our blog this month was written by Elana Ruminski, the First Year College Advisor at CSN! Elana chose to tell us about her Top 5 Ways to Stay Motivated at Work – and she also included a colorful flyer! You can see the flyer below.
Here are her Top 5 Ways to Stay Motivated at Work (in no particular order)
- Breaks – Walking breaks, social breaks, active breaks, eating breaks, whatever breaks – you name it! My break of choice is a habit that I am trying to make. I’ve been incorporating 30 minutes of walking into my days. Lately I have been walking on my lunch breaks, 15 minute breaks, or even after work now that the sun is setting later.
- Doing things I love outside of work – having a work/life balance. Go to that event! Take that day off to see your family and friends, or do it for yourself. You need to do it to fill your cup! Doing what I enjoy outside of work feeds into a better work energy from my experience. It breaks up the times of “just working”.
- Life long learning – right now I have the opportunity to take Spanish classes for the rest of the spring and adding learning into my weekly schedule has added to my motivation getting through the work week. I’ve been leaving my classes excited and recharged. Find that skill, hobby, or subject you’ve been wanting to learn and go for it!
- Coffee, matcha, yummy drinks – oh my! For those times you really have to “lock in” or when you’re wanting that little pick me up after a school visit. I know starting my day off with my fave or a new drink helps me get through the day.
- A comfy office = a comfy work time – Personalize your space! Make it a space you like to walk into and come back to, especially since we spend most of our time in these spaces. The first thing I did when I got into the role was decorate my space after touring some of the colleagues’ offices at CSN. It inspired me to decorate my space, like “me” and not only do I appreciate my space but so do others who see it too.
