The University of Nevada, Reno graduated 52 GEAR UP scholars. Nevada State GEAR UP Director, Tammy Bolen, awarded graduates as they were recognized for their achievements. GEAR UP students from Las Vegas, Reno, and rural Nevada were among those who participated in the graduation celebration. The event hosted participants from TRiO Support Services, McNair Scholars and Upward Bound Programs resulting in over 500 attendees.
GEAR UP students will be going on to their engineering graduate degrees, some plan to go to medical school, and some can’t wait to give back to their communities. GEAR UP Scholar, Lucia Sanchez, emphasized how beneficial it was being supported by her fellow GEAR UP Scholars and the GEAR UP Ambassador at the University of Nevada, Reno throughout her college journey.
The University of Nevada, Reno GEAR UP Program is proud and excited for our graduates. They have accomplished so much and have bright futures ahead of them. We are looking forward to watching all of our GEAR UP Scholars graduate and do great things in the world.
